Northants Combination Reserve Premiership League – 3 December 2011

Corby Pegasus Reserves 1 v  Roades Res 1

Daniel S

This was always going to be a tight, well fought match with the team’s only meeting a few weeks ago with the outcome being the same. It was Roades who started the brightest and they dominated the half, with Hugo having to bring off one splendid save low down to his left from a 20 yarder grass-cutter to keep the scores level at half-time.

After a stern half-time team talk Pegasus came out much, much brighter for the 2nd half and it was them who dominated this half.  It took a wonderful reflex save from the Roades keeper early in the half to keep the scores level. However it was not long until Pegasus took the lead with a flowing move down the right hand side involving several players ending with Derek putting a cross into the box and Daniel sweeping a lovely right footer high into the net. Pegasus where well on top and you felt a second would kill Roades off. Pegasus came close on several occasions with Chwaz hitting the bar with a looping header and Shaun smashing a volley over the bar from within the 6 yards box, when it looked easier to score.

Pegasus missed chances were punished when a free-kick was awarded to Roades on the edge of the Pegasus area and the resulting cross eluded everyone and ended up in the back of the net.  Roades then had their best 5 minutes of the half. However there was one final chance for Pegasus to take all 3 points with Chwaz going through one-on-one with the keeper but the keeper pulling off a great save.
