Corby Pegasus 1         Medbourne  2

Ian Wood                Fisher (Pen),  Park.

Pegasus, with three straight wins behind them, fielded the team that had beaten title hopefuls Harpole the previous week, despite fit again Steve Ennis and Ian Wood both being available.  But a strong bench is always a good sign.

Medbourne, who came to Corby without a win in three League games certainly didn't play like they were without any wins and looked the far more comfortable side.  Pegasus started nervously, almost as if they were the side without a win!!

There were few chances being created by either side, but quite how the Medbourne keeper kept out Paul Simpson's point blank header was a mystery to everyone watching  -- a truly top class save!!

The first goal of the game came as half time approached. With no danger looking on and the Medbourne forward going away from goal, Ryan Geoghegan, for reasons best known to himself, brought the guy down unceremoniously, giving the Referee no option but to award a spot kick.  No arguments from anyone said it all -- even Derek didn't disagree!!  Anyway, from the penalty kick, FISHER fired Medbourne in front.

The second half started with once again not much happening, although Pegasus were creating most of the chances, but for once all shooting boots had been left in their kit bags!!

As Pegasus pressed for the equaliser, they were hit with the classic sucker punch, as Medbourne broke quickly down the Pegasus left hand side and PARK fired his side into a 0 - 2 lead.

This knocked the stuffing out of the home side, who done little to reduce the arrears until substitute IAN WOOD hit the goal of the game in the 89th minute - a superb rising shot into the top corner from 20 yards.  Unfortunately for Pegasus it was too little too late!!

So let's hope that has given us all a wake up call for this Saturday's visit of League leaders Moulton who travel to Corby to defend their 100% record.
