04/10/08 : Corby Madisons 2 - Corby Pegasus 1

In a howling wind that made good football almost impossible, Pegasus turned in there worst performance of the Season so far against their local rivals.

After playing last Seasons Champions in the League and the current UCL Division 1 runners up in the County Junior Cup over the last 2 weeks, Pegasus got back to League duty, against last seasons League Runners Up.

Pegasus started well and after a good run and cross by John Coates, Paul Simpson had a great chance to put his side up after seconds, but put his shot over the bar.

However, Simpson didn’t have long to wait as on 15 minutes he chased Steven Thain’s pass, shook off a defender and slotted home for his first goal of the Season.

Pegasus seemed to relax after this and the home side equalized after a good move down the left ended with the ball being put home at the far post.  Not long after this, lightning struck twice as Madisons went in the lead with an almost identical goal.

Pegasus then had a great chance to equalize just before half time but the normally reliable Dragoslav Krunic dragged his shot wide of the far post after taking the ball round the keeper!!

The wind continued to spoil the game as both teams struggled to keep the ball on the pitch, never mind try to play football.  Pegasus created a few chances but the Madisons keeper denied them every time and if he didn’t the linesman’s flag did, and the home side held out for a deserved victory.
